Why Revalue Organic Waste?

It may seem easier or less costly to simply discard organic wastes into landfills. However, when you take a closer look, there are some significant benefits beyond the good it does for the environment.  The benefits of waste revaluation extend to ESG and CSR, cost saving, and it could create new opportunities to offer more to your customers and develop new partnerships.

Meeting ESG and CSR Goals

Environmental, social governance (ESG), and corporate social responsibility (CSR) have been shown to directly impact a company’s short-term and long-term success. Investors and shareholders now take ESG ratings of companies they invest into account when making investment decisions.

Taking the step to ensure the organic waste from your operations has a zero or at least positive impact on the environment significantly contributes to increased ESG rating and fulfillment of CSR.

Cost Saving

Getting rid of waste incurs some costs. This includes transportation, waste disposal service charges, and other costs. Revaluation of the waste could remove the cost of waste disposal. The product of the upcycled organic waste could also be utilized thereby reducing material costs.

Revaluation of waste generated from food processing for example can be converted back into food packaging materials. This saves a food processing company cost of purchasing new packaging materials. The packaging materials could also be cheaper since they are made in-house without additional branding or transportation cost.

Even where only part of the waste is revalued into fibers and minerals, the volume reduction can save the cost of waste disposal and the amount of emission and energy consumed per kg of waste transported.

Expand Product offerings and Explore New Partnerships

The revalued organic waste could open up new areas for your business in terms of offering more to your customers and building new partnerships. These could include take-back schemes or premium options that allow customers to opt for upcycled products.

New partnerships can also be developed with bioplastic processors who can convert the revalued organic waste fibers and minerals or bioplastics, into other products for consumers. Venvirotech has a network of producers of bioplastic producers working with the same technology and producers of bioplastic consumer products.

Environment and Natural Resource Conservation

Every business requires a suitable environment to operate as well as resources to serve as raw materials either for their direct or indirect use as producers or consumers. It is therefore in the good of both the business and the consumers to conserve the environment and the planet’s resources.

Revaluation of organic waste promotes a circular economy where we can have abundant access to feedstocks without constantly depleting natural resources or polluting the environment.

Solid waste left to decompose in landfills or openly, result in the generation of methane which has 25 times more heating effect than carbon dioxide. It was estimated in 2016 that 5% of greenhouse gas emissions were mainly from the degradation of solid waste.

Processing the waste at the source reduces the amount of degradation that occurs within the time the waste is stored and transported for offsite processing. Hence reducing the emissions. The amount of emissions is also reduced when the transportation of waste to a different location for processing is eliminated.

What Type of Organic Waste Does VEnvirotech Revalue

VEnvirotech either revalues organic waste which falls within our 3 key waste types or develops custom processes to meet a specific client’s need for more varied waste types.

Three Key Waste Sources

VEnvirotech has validated over 85 organic wastes and has developed 7 different ranges of bioplastics. These bioplastics incorporate revalued fibers and minerals from organic waste sources. The 3 key organic waste sources the company focuses on are:

  • · Food and agriculture
  • · Food processing
  • · Slaughterhouse and meat

Other Waste Sources

There are other unique categories of materials that may not fit directly into VEnvirotech’s 3 key organic waste categories. Some of these wastes may have similar characteristics and hence similar processing requirements that fit within our existing frameworks. These can include sewage sludge and waste from the processing of non-food organic products.

VEnvirotech has an expert biotechnology team constantly innovating and advancing its processes. Therefore we welcome prospective clients to contact us to enquire about your specific type of organic waste and we’ll evaluate the best-suited processes for waste revaluation.

VEnvirotech’s Unique Waste Revaluation Process

VEnvirotech sets itself apart through innovative biotechnology, the development of quality products, transparent operations, and a strong dedication to a circular economy at the core of its establishment. We have developed an automated, standardized, and pre-installed process that arrives ready to run.

Highly Efficient Bacteria Strains

VEnvirotech has developed innovative biotechnology for the conversion of organic waste into fibers, minerals, and bioplastics. Through our patented technology, we have developed processes for culturing the most powerful bacteria strains specialized in breaking down organic waste and production of high-quality bioplastics from the waste. We have isolated over 100 PHA-producing bacteria.

Proprietory Onsite Processing

Our onsite processing capabilities allow waste to be processed right at the source thereby minimizing environmental impact while optimizing the efficiency of the overall process. We have developed the VEbox, a mobile system for the conversion of organic waste to bioplastic within 24 hours.

The automated system works according to a scheduled work cycle. It is remotely controlled and supervised.

Optimized Bioplastic Formulations

The minerals, fibers, and bioplastics obtained from this waste can be further processed into bioplastic formulation. These formulations are optimized blends of bioplastics and composites incorporating the fibers and minerals from organic waste.

This can be any of VEnvirotech’s pre-existing 7 optimized bioplastic formulations or our team of experts will develop custom formulations to meet your specific requirements.

VEnvirotech’s Custom Organic Waste Revaluation Services

To meet the diverse range of organic wastes and the diverse processing and application of bioplastics, VEnvirotech offers a custom organic waste revaluation service.

We adapt the formulation from the waste provided by the customer, according to the specific needs of the project. We can work with a wide variety of applications, such as flexible packaging, rigid packaging, fabrics, textiles, electronics, agriculture, construction and others.

Based on your requirements, and the type of organic waste, VEnvirotech will then assess your requirements and develop custom processes for upcycling your organic waste into optimized bioplastic formulation.
